Dear ~~first_name~~,
We are very pleased to announce the 2025 Fall Dinner - Friday, October 24th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Olde Breton Inn.
In a first of its kind format for an Historical Society dinner, Mr. Donald Barber and Mr. David Brown will discuss their book, The Barber Family: From Slavery Through Segregation and the Civil Rights Movement. This is a story not often told; a glimpse into life both within Sotterley Plantation and the community beyond. They look forward to your questions and participation with them in conversation.
Donald Barber and his family spent four generations at Sotterley Plantation. A graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland, Mr. Barber spent over thirty-years working in Human Services, returning to Sotterley as member of the Board of Trustees.
David Brown is a former State Department Foreign Service Officer having served at posts principally in Asia. An interpreter and member of the Sotterley Board, Mr. Brown has written several books about Sotterley and collaborated with Donald to tell the story of four generations of the Barber Family. He will be the featured speaker at a forthcoming Historically Speaking event as part of the 250th Anniversary Celebrations of America's Founding.
Preceding Mr. Barber and Mr. Brown will be a couple announcements which hold importance for the Historical Society and its Members for months to come.
A registration form is included below. If you prefer, you can register for this exciting event at our website by clicking here. Reservations are limited to the first 150 registrations.
We look forward to seeing you on October 24th!
Kindest regards,
